Dora

I love the fact of how this woman is so spiritual. She has been through a lot and she reminds me of a real strong woman. One thing I loved about this woman is that she follows heart despite of anyone says and now she has learned from her past and now she is doing much better and still going to school.

Danielle Kennedy

I loved her story out of the ones I had heard because it reminded me of a fairy tale once she ended. I just wanted to say congratulations on her marriage to her friend that she had been friends with since middle school. Even though her past was bumpy she still managed to find a break through and end up being real successful.

Baba and Daddy Gus by: Bell Hooks

I like mostly in the beggining of the story how Bell Hooks used metaphors to discribe her grandparents. There was one in the fourth paragraph that she said "Together Baba and Daddy Gus generated a hot heat" and it made me realized that those are the words that described my Uncle Michael and his wife Nycole. One thing that caught my attention was that for them to married so long, how can maintain not speaking or doing anything with one another? As I read, I thought to myself if that was the way to keep thier relationship stronger of the fact that they didn't want thier grandchildern to see them in misery. Daddy Gus reminds me so much of my Uncle Ivory, a hard worker since he was young, unique treasures in his house from his past and old school. Just by hearing what the writer says about her grandparent, means that they really meant a lot to her and that emotions were deep for them.

Cathedral

I think that the Cathedral is a good story because it puts a lot of feeling and emotion through out the paragraphs. Especially when the narrator explains that the blind man had lost his wife and how he sat by her side in the hospitle room as she was lay to rest. I knew the blind man was wise because of the years that came along him and how he could remember thing just by his senses like, touch, hearing, and smell like he said that he havn't been on the train near fourty years and just by smelling the smoke took him back as him being a little boy with his parents. I kind of dislike how the narrator's husband was kind of a jerk towards the old man beacuse of him catching his wife's attention but the old man didn't mind him at all and kept on being the guy he was.

The Allegory of the Cave

When I first read The Allegory of the Cave, I kind of had a time in my life that I felt that i could relate to the story. I believe the time that had the most impact to my life would be the time I was sperated from my mother because she had went to jail because of something she had did from the past. I really dont remember the situation that happend but i remember that day when the police came and got my mom and aunt like it was yesterday. "Knock Knock" I woke up to hearing that noise coming from the living room door, I remember hearing my grandmother mumbling something as if she had a dream and sleep talking. Then as soon as my grandmother finally made her way to the door she suddenly replied "may I help you" then soon realized it was the police at the door. There were two male officers that asked for the lady of the name of Monica Davis and Ordena Timms. As soon as they said that, i could see the tears running down her face as if it was raining and the rain was running down her face. At that moment I could see the confusion in my grandmother face as if the world had eneded and there ws nothing else to do. So the quote "you have shown me a strange image, and they are strange prisoners" kind of symbolized this moment in my life because I felt that the image was strange because I didnt get the whole scene, i thought my mother was innocent and i believe they were strange prisoners because I was clueless, I didnt know what they did.
